FUNCTIONAL ART FOILS ROBBERY

At a recent fundraiser held by the Labyrinth Foundation, an attempted robbery was thwarted when one of the artworks present revealed a hidden talent: Sensing intruders.

The fundraiser, for Artist Mentorship Fund, took place at the New York penthouse apartment of Wayne Richards, a well-known patron of the Arts and one of the most prominent members of the Labyrinth Foundation, which works to support struggling artists of high artistic merit.

The would-be thief, Conrad James, entered Richards' home with a forged invitation, in order to steal an item he knew to be in his hosts' private office. He snuck away from the festivities, expertly picked the lock, and gained entrance.

As a profound lover of artwork, Richards has filled his office with statues, paintings, and sculptures. One of these is a very modern creation, manufactured under exclusive contract by Lombartech Security. It contains hidden laser eyes, which were set to detect any intruder.

The moment James entered the room illegally, the eyes caught him and notified police, who arrived just in time to apprehend James as he was attempting to leave the penthouse. Caught by surprise, he surrendered both himself and his stolen object without incident.

Richards was unavailable for comment, but Lombartech stated that it was very satisfied with what it called the " first field test, under uncontrolled conditions. "

Neither the object of James' attempted theft, nor the artwork which prevented it, have been revealed, for security reasons.
